The NHL has released who will be captains for this years Tim Hortons NHL All Star Game, and both are familiar to fans of host city Ottawa.
It will be the Ottawa Senators captain, Daniel Alfredsson, squaring off against ex-teammate and captain of the Boston Bruins, Zdeno Chara.
Alfredsson and Chara were teammates in Ottawa for four seasons and had a lot of success in that short span.
Alfredsson is the hometown guy this year, much like Eric Staal was last season, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that he is one of the captains. The Senators are one of the NHL’s hottest teams right now, currently sitting in 5th place with 58 points, 1 point back of Chara’s Boston Bruins for the Northeast division lead.
Chara as an ASG captain isn’t a bad choice either. Playing in Ottawa before coming to Boston, he is one of the most polarizing figures when he comes to opposing arenas, as well as being the captain of the reigning Stanley Cup champions.

With the captains selected, we can now start the mock drafts and the debates about who picks who.
Let the fun begin!
